Life in Lockdown
Here’s the third part of a selection of ‘Life in Lockdown’ blogs from inside Acorn Village, thank you to all of our wonderful carers, volunteers and Acorn VIP’s for sharing their challenges and fears throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dear All at Acorn Village,
Life since lockdown hasn’t changed much for me as I have still been able to get out to work cutting grass. Karen my wife, who most of you (At Acorn) all know as she used to work there, has also been busy working at another care home (But she keeps telling me that she misses you all!).
The real big change is that my daughters have been at home all of the time but have both been very good at doing their online learning. I have been working shorter days to make sure I am home early enough to help them with any school work they get stuck on when Karen is at work.
They have also enjoyed being able to take our dog Lilo for a walk at lunchtime although she does not like this heat!
There are two big changes that have affected me, the first is not being able to come and cut the field at the front of Acorn Village. I miss seeing all of your smiling faces when you are out on your bikes, walking or helping Jamie with the gardening (Including you Staff doing your lunchtime laps………..)
The second thing is I have been busy building some storage shelves to put in my garage. I have taken on part of the charity shop online as the shop in Manningtree High Street is not able to be open to the public. I am selling Records and CD’s and other music related items on eBay & Discogs to help create funds for you all. I am pleased to say that, although it may not be loads of money, I am selling things that would otherwise have just stayed in the shop.
My daughter who also knows some of you looks after some sheep and they have just had their baby lambs, the photo is of them at 1 Day old….
So life is still going on outside of wherever you all are and will be back to the new normal very soon hopefully.
I have attached some photos for you to see what I have been talking about and hope to see you all again soon.
Stay Safe & Keep Smiling,
