Enjoying picking the produce in 2019, we are already looking forward to the crop this year

Life in Lockdown

Here’s the first of a selection of ‘Life in Lockdown’ blogs from inside Acorn Village, thank you to all of our wonderful carers, volunteers and Acorn VIP’s for sharing their challenges and fears throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

I’ve worked for supported living for 2 yrs. This has been the most rewarding and interesting job of my working life.
At times things have been really tough but what keeps me going is the reward at the end of the day.
The tenants that I have the pleasure to work with are so appreciative of our support, as are their relatives I’m sure.
This gives me a great deal of satisfaction.

Not a day goes by when I don’t think about the consequences of this awful virus.
The impact that it has had on us all in our day to day lives and socially.
In the beginning I have to say that I was really scared.
All sorts of worries came into my head. I love my family and I don’t want to leave this life yet.!!
It has been the love from my family, support from friends and colleagues but most of all great strength and fortitude of the residents that have kept me going.

Now that we have been dealing with the procedures for a while now, however much they change on a day by day basis, I feel more confident although I know we can’t afford to be complacent. This virus could catch us out at anytime. I’ll do my best to keep myself and others safe.

I do miss my colleagues that are self isolating and hope that they and their families keep well.
I look forward to when we can have some light relief and celebrate our achievements.
Keep safe everyone.
