Clacton Choral Society raise £1,500 to help adults with learning disabilities
A conversation between Acorn supporter Kas from the Tendring Magasine and John from the Clacton Choral Society a couple of years ago started off a wonderful and supportive link.
It started off with Kas asking John to pass on her tickets to Acorn Village for a raffle, to them generously continuing to donate tickets for the residents to attend their concerts.
It has since led to them raising an incredible £1,500 by choosing Acorn Village as their Charity for this year’s Summer Concert.
It’s amazing what you all can and have achieved just by word of mouth, we are so grateful to everyone who spreads the need for support for adults with learning disabilities at Acorn Village.
John kindly sent the press release for us to share, please see the below.
‘A Clacton Choral ’Goes to the Proms!’ charity concert in July was to support Acorn Village in Mistley, providing support for adults with learning disabilities.
The photograph below, taken at a recent rehearsal evening at St James’ Church Hall, shows the presentation by Musical Director Gilli Dulieu, accompanied by John Bennett the Choral Chairman, of a £1500 cheque to Michelle Cook the Chief Executive Officer for Acorn Village.
Michelle highlighted three particular areas where funding is currently needed, one of which is appropriate for the bathrooms to be converted into wet rooms. With those acoustics the residents who sing would have daily rehearsals!’
Thank you so much to them and to everyone who supports Acorn Village, as you can see, you never know where your support may lead.
