Father Christmas with some of his incredible helpers, including the youngest volunteer of the day

23rd November 2019 The Acorn Village Christmas Market

What a day! The weather forecast that week had shown heavy downpours for the day, we were so lucky that apart from a downpour whilst setting up, the rain held off for the whole event.

With lots of firsts for the event – first time having stalls in the Walled Garden, first time having the wonderful Morris dancers, first time having two rides and first time having the Essex Cosplayers…add the amazing volunteers, the wonderful NAFAS flower arrangements, Fitsteps with Pauline, a Magical grotto, a miniature Steam Engine, the Police cadets, the Fire Engine, Edme Ltd’s famous malt loaf, lots of stalls and it was a recipe for success.
There truly was something for all and we are overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity.

We had over 1000 people turn up over the day to support the charity event, a record amount.

A huge thank you to every single person who gave their time to help raise money for adults with learning disabilities, from the performers (Anniemation Morris Dancers & Fitsteps with Pauline), the stalls, the rides, the steam engine and the NAFAS flower association.

The stars of the day, as always, were the incredible volunteers, a team of over 100 were onboard to raise funds, from running stalls, busking, baking cakes, the BBQ, in the Magical Grotto, to parking and making lots of tea!!!
A special shout out to the fabulous Essex Cosplayers who brought a touch of magic to the day and to Mr & Mrs Christmas with their team of elves for taking time out of their busy schedule to be with us.

Thank you to all the members of the public who came and supported.

You made a record breaking £12,000 before costs, all of which will go straight back into supporting adults with learning disabilities!!!!! Just incredible.
