Dedication and training are the key to our staff success.
A truly dedicated and well-trained staff, who since 1986 until 2016 has been under the hands-on direction of members of the original founding family, (Ray Ablett Chief Executive and Heather Ablett, Founder Community Liaison Officer).
The aim at Acorn is that adults with learning disabilities enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle tailored to their own specific needs.
The mutual respect and affection between residents, tenants and staff and the positive, friendly atmosphere throughout the Village are witness to their commitment.
A large staff team now led by Michelle Cook Chief Executive put the Acorn philosophy into practice each day.
Acorn deliver the Care Certificate over a 12 week period. There are 15 standards to meet. This certificate is both work practise and knowledge based. It is a requirement for all Care staff to hold this certificate.
We are also a City & Guilds Accredited Centre delivering Diplomas in Health and Social Care. We are inspected once a year by City and Guilds.
In addition all staff attend both mandatory and specialised training to equip them to give the highest standard of care for adults with learning disabilities.
